Who We Are
Prutha is an entirely new concept and vision for Goa. The word comes from Sanskrit and means daughter of the earth, and reflects our role as custodians of our world, our home and our society. Developed initially as a purely online resource, Prutha will promote the concept of social work in its widest sense, looking at how our private lives, communities and businesses can work for our good and for the good of society. This will include areas as diverse as the environment, local cultures and language, the promotion and development of the arts, beneficial scientific progress, care for nature and animals and the more traditional social work areas like the care of the elderly, the poor, children and those who are mentally or physically sick. Prutha will aim to be an active centre of discussion and progress, with key articles stimulating constructive debate and dialogue.
Prutha is conceived as a resource that will be completely independent of all organisations, political and religious views and even individual social work bodies. It will feature articles on subjects including food, sports, lifestyle, travel, music, film, arts, fashion, NGO work, corporate social responsibility and any other area where a contribution can be made to society.
